What does it mean to be an American classic? How can we expand that definition to better fit contemporary times? Inspired by the American classic of bright pink, half-pint sized cartons of strawberry milk distributed in elementary school, I devised an alternative take: rose lassi.
I was inspired by the syrup, Rooh Afza: (“refresher of the soul" or "soul uplifter”) which is commonly served mixed into a cold glass of milk. I created a package for a pre-mixed version. Though still enjoyed today, Rooh Afza experienced a peak in popularity in the 1980-90s. I aimed to revisit some of this nostalgia with a risograph-print design.

How might children respond when they grow up with new flavors as “classics”? How might immigrant adults respond when products from their childhood are introduced in the mainstream market?
